9 a.m. - Teacher Roundtable with U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan
Ducketts Lane Elementary School, 6501 Ducketts Lane, Eldridge, MD 21075
Dr. Lowery will join Secretary Duncan and Howard County Superintendent Renee Foose will visit classrooms and meet with teachers from both Ducketts Lane Elementary and Thomas Viaduct Middle Schools to hear how teaching and learning is changing during the transition to higher standards, and how that has contributed to schools’ and students’ success in Maryland. A press availability will follow. The roundtable discussion with teachers will be streamed live on the HCPSS website, www.hcpss.org.

Dr. Lowery will brief committee members on budget plans for educational organizations.

Dr. Lowery will visit the Project Lead the Way Programs at Wheaton High, through which students can attain industry certifications while completing educational programs that prepare them for both college and career.
